Iran’s imports of agricultural machinery and of livestock on the upswing

 iran agro 2011 from 05 - 08 June 2011 in Tehran

The Iranian agricultural market becomes ever more important. Exporters of agricultural machinery and animal husbandry products during the past few years made good business in Iran, now being one of the most important markets for major international players with interest in the region.

According to the Agricultural Machinery Association within VDMA – The German Engineering Association, exports of agricultural engineering products to Iran have increased from US $ 62.6 million in 2008 to US $ 66.2 million in 2009 (+5.7%).

Iranian imports of livestock are increasing year by year. Within 2 years for instance, between 2005/06 and 2007/08, imports of livestock increased by 117 %, from US $ 212.3 million to US $ 460.8 million. During the same period, Iranian livestock exports as well went up by 25 % from US $ 305.8 million to US $ 382.2 million.

Good times for iran agro 2011, the 18th International Agricultural Trade Fair, which has now been scheduled to be held on the Tehran International Fairgrounds on 05 - 08 June 2011.

Iran’s leading agricultural and livestock event is supported by the Iranian ministry of jihad – agriculture and the ministry of industries and mines. It is organised by Palar Samaneh of Tehran and the German trade fair specialist fairtrade. In October 2009, the organisers have “earned the ‘UFI Approved Event’ quality label for iran agro as certification of the highest level of professional exhibition standards” (UFI The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry).

The last iran agro 2010 proved to be very successful. Outlined Sassan Khaladj-Nia of the German exhibitor Schmidt-Seeger GmbH: “iran agro 2010 was a great exhibition with many local and foreign exhibitors and an excellent number of professional visitors from related industries. The event was also very well organized.”

And Gokhan Cengiz of the Turkish exhibitor Yuksel Seeds added: “We thank all people who spend efforts in order to organize iran agro 2010 exhibition. It is really an
important exhibition for Yuksel Seeds to introduce our company as a hybrid vegetable seeds breeder and producer company.”

In 2010, 84 exhibitors (+7.7 %) from 13 countries displayed their latest technologies. National and regional pavilions from China, Spain (Barcelona region and Murcia region) and Turkey completed the event. Exhibitors came from Bahrain, Brazil, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Great Britain, Iran, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and United Arab Emirates.

iran agro 2011, the 18th International Agricultural Trade Fair, is the ideal venue for new product launches and impressive presentations, a perfect place to meet all of the Iranian and international top-level decision-makers. Just like in 2010, when - according to official figures of the IIEC Iran International Exhibition Co. - 43,589 visitors (+32.7%) had been registered for the three events iran agro, iran food + hospitality and iran food + bev tec 2010.

* 8,871 governmental sector officers

* 11,564 public visitors.

Notable European and Asian foreign trade organisations from China, France, Italy, Spain, Taiwan and Turkey have already confirmed their participation for iran agro 2011. This comes at no surprise as 80% of the exhibitors would recommend iran agro.

To create valuable synergies for exhibitors and trade visitors alike, iran agro 2011 takes place concurrently with iran food + hospitality (361 exhibitors from 16 countries in 2010) and iran food + bev tec 2011 (379 exhibitors from 25 countries in 2010), the three dedicated events building the frame of “iran agrofood 2010” with altogether 823 exhibitors (+ 21.9 %) from 31 countries, compared to 676 exhibitors from 24 countries in 2009.
