Both the Rt Hon Jim Paice MP, Minister of State for Agriculture and Food, UK Government and Professor Sir John Beddington CMG FRS, Chief Scientific Adviser to HM Government will be returning to speak at CropWorld Global 2011. This event, organised by UBM with the support of BCPC, takes place at London’s ExCel Centre from 31 October to 2 November 2011.
In 2010 Sir John, in his closing address, reflected on the current issues relating to global food security, whilst Mr Paice announced to CropWorld delegates, that funding of £12.6 million was going to be allocated to improve our understanding of how UK agriculture contributes to climate change.
This year, on the morning of 31 October 2011 Mr Paice will be one of the senior government representatives from across the globe to give a keynote address in the State of the Nations session. Each speaker will provide an overview of the crop production challenges faced in 2011 and outline the current situation in terms of production, funding initiatives and pan-national agreements in their region. Details of trade related issues faced, the impact of recent regulatory developments and the outlook for the future will also be considered.
To close the conference, Sir John will deliver the closing address at lunchtime on Day three (2 November 2011) to which all conference delegates, exhibition visitors and exhibitors are invited to attend.
Registration for CropWorld Global 2011 is now open and details of speakers and the programme can be found at www.cropworld-global.com.
