Speaking about the conference’s central theme of sustainable agricultural intensification on the first day will be Juan Ferreira, Vice President Europe, Mid-East and Africa, Monsanto, Jan-Kees Vis, Global Director Sustainable Sourcing Development for Unilever, and Egil Hogna, SVP & Head of Downstream, Yara International.

Continuing the theme will be the UK’s National Farmers Union President Peter Kendall, Dr Trevor Nicholls, CEO of CABI, Dr Pedro Machado, Director General of Rice and Beans, Embrapa, the Brazilian agricultural research corporation, John Reifsteck, Board Member, Truth about Trade and Technology, and Dr Bruce Lee, Director, Food Futures Flagship, CSIRO.

The conference, which will be held at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, London, from the 6th – 7th November, also includes speakers from KWS, Macquarie Bank, OECD, ECPA, Waterhouse LLP, BASF and CropLife International.

On the first day the conference will examine the need for sustainable agricultural intensification as well as whether it can be achieved in practice. It will also look at global commodity prices, harvest round up and planning forecast for 2013. On the second day CropWorld Global will debate three streams, political, financial and technical, all drivers of sustainable agricultural intensification.

CropWorld Director Clare King said the event, which is the third annual CropWorld Global conference, was promising to be the most successful yet.
"Sustainable crop production to meet the needs of a growing population is a global issue, and it is appropriate that we have delegates and speakers from companies from around the world attending this event.

"We have chosen the theme of ‘sustainable intensification’ with a view to creating a debate about the role that science and technology can play in meeting the rising demand for food in the world. We will also be looking at the political and economic challenges facing agricultural production. The event is about knowledge exchange, and the opportunity to network and debate with colleagues from around the world,” she said.
