Philippines has a population of over 100 million. Its GDP increased by 6.8%in 2016, ranking top among ASEAN countries. It is expected to become the second largest economy in ASEAN after Indonesia.Philippines has 13 million hectares of agricultural land. Rice, corn, coconut, banana and mango are main crops. In 2016, pesticides demand is estimated at USD$200 million. It has almost no pesticide technical production, mainly relies on importing technical or formulations to meet the domestic demand. Insecticides account for over 50% of the total imported pesticides. Philippine fertilizer import volume takes 65% of the total. With the continued implementation of rice self-sufficiency program, Philippine government will increase the input in agricultural production.
